This place had a really cool ambiance. The decor was reminiscent of an old country kitchen, and it was almost like stepping back in time. The wait staff was excellent, efficient, and friendly. We went for brunch, and the menu was a mixture of both creative style brunch items and the more traditional. We were there with a toddler, and it seemed relatively kid-friendly. My only negative comment on this place was that the Bloody Mary's were a bit bland and pricey.
We arrived just a little after 8 am and were seated immediately, but by the time we had gotten started with our meal, there was a bit of a wait, so going early may save you that hassle. |

My wife and I had brunch at Penelope. Food was really good. $14 Gets you coffee, a mimosa and an entrée. I got an omlette with fries and my wife got the Nutella french toast. If you're going and it's only two of you sit at the bar if it's an option (in our case it was either the bar or a 35 minute wait for a table). If my wife liked it then it must be good, I assume we'll be going back. |

My wife and I usually go to Penelope's for breakfast, and we always enjoy our meal. Several times we have brought out of town guest, and they have also enjoyed the spot. Even after a year, one out of towners still comments on how much they liked Penelope's. I am bringing my mom and dad there today, as I know my mom will love the atmosphere, and my dad will love the food. |

| Great Murray Hill Sp |
|
Charming restaurant located in the heart of Murray Hill. Perfect for casual dates, dinner with a friend or even takeout. I would not recommend for big groups as the restaurant is pretty small. If you want to go for weekend brunch expect a long line and wait but during the week you can usually walk right in. My favorites include the veggie burger, chicken currie salad, chicken meatball sandwich and of course the spinach and artichoke dip. My roommates and I order takeout from here usually a couple times a week. All in all, you can't go wrong at Penelope, it's affordable, charming and yummy!

| Great food, bad serv |
|
Have been there 3 times for lunch. Each time, my friends and I thought the service was terrible. The staff is generally inattentive, rude, or both. However, the food is delicious, if perhaps a bit overpriced, and the decor is lovely. Too bad the service is so bad.
