This is the old Captain's Ketch , an old neighborhood spot that was frequented by the UN crowd for lunch . It's newer incarnation hasn't changed much . The owners are former staff and the menu is pretty similar , though a bit more Italian and a bit less Seafood
Don Veitia's business lunch prix-fixe is a fairly priced deal for Midtown Manhattan . The food is good , service passable , the decor a bit dated and in need of a makeover . Their dinner menu is pretty expansive , and most of their fare is fine , though there is a sense that each dish is missing some spice and is a bit bland |

Steak is fabulous, and they have a good selection of wines. There's some fusion sensibility to the menu rather than offering strictly Mediterranean food, but if you don't like that style, not a good choice.I recommend to anyone. |

I've eaten here several times now and really enjoy it. I would call it a middle/upper restaurant. They had a great $28 prix fix menu for the summer which included 1.5 lb lobster. I would recommend the steamed mussels for an ap. What I really enjoy about Don's is the self playing piano for great background atmosphere and last time I went there a gentleman was playing it. |
